Introduction to the project

Regional Science Centre Oldham

Regional Science Centre Oldham (RSCO) is designed to be used by everyone with a passion for science – from primary school children to A-level students to industry.

Working in partnership with schools, further education providers and universities, RSCO is working to develop science skills by creating and maintaining interest in science education from an early age. As the new location for Oldham Sixth Form College's science facilities, RSCO features laboratories with cutting edge equipment to inspire a new generation of scientists who previously may not have had the option to continue into post-16 education.

Nuffield Foundation Bursary
During their summer break eight of our Year 12 science students participated in the Nuffield Foundation Science Bursary scheme which offers opportunities each year for students from colleges throughout the country to work alongside practising scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians.

Primary School Visit to RSCO
On Friday 12th October, 131 Y5/6 pupils from four different primary schools visited the Regional Science Centre Oldham to attend an event with the theme of "The Universe".

RSCO Wins S-Lab Award
We're pleased to announce that the Regional Science Centre Oldham has won the Schools and Colleges category in this year's prestigious S-Lab awards.

Oxford University Summer School
Three Science students – Cameron Smith, April Tsang and Matthew Jamshed – have successfully secured places onto the UNIQ programme of academically-focused summer schools, based at The University of Oxford, in July and August.

RSCO Shortlisted for S-Lab Awards
Oldham Sixth Form College has just been shortlisted for an S-Lab award for "Innovation and Outreach Through a New Regional Science Centre".
